中新网自贡8月11日电(王哲)记者从四川自贡市灯贸委获悉，为传播中国传统文化，弘扬中华优秀彩灯文化，促进中美两国文化交流，增进自贡市和旧金山市的友好往来，自贡灯会定于今年11月下旬至2012年1月初在美国旧金山湾区“大美国游乐场”展出。这是自贡灯会首次大规模赴美展出。
自贡市灯贸委主任王维介绍，此次灯展受到了各级领导高度重视和大力支持。今年4月，中共中央政治局委员、国务委员刘延东率团访问美国时，听完中国驻旧金山总领事馆的汇报后，刘延东就赴美灯展对加强中美两国文化交流，中国传统文化传播意义给予肯定和高度评价。
据了解，此次名为2011“中华彩灯”美国嘉年华的自贡灯会，展出时间预计39天，将展出40组大中小型彩灯及氛围灯，展出内容以中国传统题材为主，加入部分圣诞题材的大中小型彩灯及氛围灯。目前，各项筹备工作正有序开展，自贡市灯贸委将集中力量、精心设计、精心组织、精心制作，确保此次灯展，圆满完成展出任务。
自贡灯会历史悠久，已经有了800年的历史，自贡人早在唐宋年间的时候就有了新年点灯的民间习俗，荟萃了中国灯文化的风采，赢得了“天下第一灯”的美称，使自贡这座全国历史文化名城以“南国灯城”名扬四海。(完)
